Solovic To Receive Goddess Artemis Award

ST. LOUIS, MO – Small business expert Susan Solovic will be among the honorees at the 19th Annual Goddess Artemis Awards Ceremony set for 4-7 p.m., May 14, 2015 in the Rayburn House Office Building room B338, Washington, D.C.

The Euro-American Women’s Council (EAWC) gives the awards each year to salute individuals from the fields of business, politics, civil rights, medicine, sports, academia, science, arts, and culture whose achievements have greatly contributed to the growth and advancement of societies on a national and international scale.

This year’s event will be hosted by Carolyn B. Maloney, congresswoman from New York’s 12th congressional district and Gina Slater Parker, the founder and CEO of Black Women Enterprises.

In addition to the awards presentation, the evening is also intended to raise awareness about congressional legislation relating to economic develop for America, Greece, and breast cancer research.

“The Goddess Artemis Awards are approaching their 20th year, and so many great individuals from around the world have received it in previous years that I’m just honored to be included in that group,” Solovic said when she learned that she was named among the honorees this year.

“I wouldn’t miss the ceremony for anything and I’m really looking forward to meeting the other recipients,” she continued.

Several important figures on Capital Hill are also being honored this year, including Congressman Steve Israel, Congressman John Paul Sarbanis, Congresswoman Grace Meng, Congressman Gus Bilirakis, and Congresswoman Kathleen Rice.

“These honorees personify the highest principles, including fair competition, teamwork, and cooperation, setting the example globally for others to follow,” stated Loula Alafoyiannis, founder and CEO of EAWC.

Preceding the awards ceremony, on May 13, is a reception and tour of the National Women’s History Museum. The tour runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The reception begins at 1:30 p.m. and goes to 3 p.m.
