Finally some good news for small businesses in terms of access to capital. According to the Biz2Credit Small Business Lending Index, small business loan approvals at big banks increased to 15.9 percent from 15.3 percent in January. That’s the highest approval percentage by big banks since Biz2Credit’s Index was introduced over two years ago.
Just when you think you have it all figured out — registering for your business domain just got more confusing. You know when you select your company’s domain you must choose an extension such as “.com”, “.net,” “.org,” .biz,” etc. Now potentially thousands of new extensions will be introduced in the near future, and the majority of small businesses are unaware of this change and what it means for their businesses.
I’m a punctual person. In fact, I usually arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for a meeting. If for some reason, I’m running late it makes me a nervous wreck. Healthcare is one of the top concerns for small businesses, and many employers have started passing along added costs to high-risk employees — particularly smokers. In fact, the cost of providing coverage to smokers is so significant some employers are making their companies smoke free, refusing to hire smokers. Employers pay an extra $21 per smoker per day in additional medical costs and lost productivity. That is $7,874 annually, according to information from Alere, a rapid diagnostics firm.
